President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday charged the incoming ministers to remain steadfast and focused on the task ahead in making Nigeria a better country. He also told the incoming ministers that the government would rely on them to help lift Nigerians from poverty and position them on the path of prosperity.
The president while speaking in Abuja on Monday, declared opened a two-day ministers’ designate retreat,which will ahead usher in the inauguration on Wednesday
Buhari said, “I count on you. We must work as a team. Working as a team demands that we know what the next person is doing. You must open communication with your colleagues. Lack of communication leads to a lack of cooperation and sub-optimal performance.
His words:
“We are working to lift Nigerians out of poverty and set them on the path to prosperity. We intend to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty over the next 10 years.”
Speaking further the president said, “I congratulate all newcomers who are joining the first-termers. You’re in office to assist and advise the President in running the affairs of Nigeria. A great privilege to be called to serve and you must grasp the chance with two hands and put in your best efforts.”
The Senate had recently screened and confirmed list of 43 ministers designate without portfolios, sent to it by President Buhari.
Among those at the inauguration on include, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
