Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has warned that a direct conflict between Russia and NATO would mean that the world is one step away from World War III.
Putin made this known after claiming a landslide victory in Russia’s presidential election by garnering 87.8 percent of the votes.
Meanwhile, the US, Germany, the UK, and other countries have said the election was not free and fair due to the imprisonment of political opponents and censorship.
In his post-election briefing, Putin said: “It is clear to everyone that this will be one step away from a full-scale World War Three. I think hardly anyone is interested in this.”
Recall that the President of France, Emmanuel Macron previously stated that he could not rule out the possibility of deploying ground troops in Ukraine.

While responding to questions about Macron’s statements and the risks as well as the possibility of conflict between Russia and NATO, Putin said: “Everything is possible in the modern world.”
He added that the servicemen of NATO were already in Ukraine.
Putin earlier stated that Russia was technically ready for nuclear war and added that if the United States sent troops to Ukraine, it would be viewed as a significant escalation of the conflict.
In his reaction, Macron stated that Putin should not make threats when Russia possesses nuclear weapons.
