Canadian footballer, Junior Hoilett, has joined Scottish side Aberdeen on loan until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, has been clubless since his contract with the Vancouver Whitecaps expired in 2023.

Hoilett previously played for Reading, Cardiff City, Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers and FC St. Pauli.

While talking about Hoilett in a statement, Neil Warnock, the newly appointed Aberdeen manager Neil Warnock, who worked with Hoilett at QPR and Cardiff City, said:  “Junior is a player I know well; he’s played for me three times so I know him inside out.

“He is an international player and I think he will benefit the team from now until the end of the season.”

After signing the deal, Hoilett said: “It’s a great opportunity and I’m delighted to be able to get back out there and play football again under a manager who knows how to get the best out of a team.

“I have no doubt they will get everyone working together, so I’m glad to be here.”

“I still have a lot of fire in me for the game. I want to enjoy football again. I’ve been keeping fit training with Reading and I’m just waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. When the gaffer called it was a blessing and I’m delighted to be here.”
