The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, has signed a $3.1-billion health-care agreement with the federal government to increase access to primary care and decrease wait times.
The development was announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently and it makes Ontario the fifth province to sign an agreement with the government for its share of a $200-billion health accord.
The other provinces with agreements are Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island and Alberta.
The announcement came almost a year after both governments reached a 10-year agreement in principle to pay for health care in Ontario.
