Residents of Markham should beware as cannabis consumption in public is now disallowed. The ban has set Markham apart from other municipalities.
Markham’s city council met recently to draft bylaws around cannabis hours prior to it being legalized.
The city initially announced that retail stores may be banned, something the provincial government empowered Ontario’s municipal governments to decide.
Markham’s city council has decided that smoking weed henceforth must be a private activity, which reflects the laws suggested by the former Liberal provincial government. The current PC government eradicated that and will permit public consumption.
From the look of things, weed aficionados won’t be featured in any celebratory parties in Markham.
