Nello Altomare, the NDP incumbent in Transcona has been re-elected into the Legislature.
In 2019, Altomare was first elected in the Transcona constituency by a slim margin. He joined the shadow cabinet of the NDP as the critic for education and early childhood learning.
He defeated Progressive Conservative candidate, Titi Tijani and Liberal candidate, Arthur Bloomfield.
After the declaration of Altomore as the winner of the keenly contested election, Titi, an ever-gracious politician, thanked residents of Transcona for their support and trust. She also reiterated her unwavering commitment to Transcona.
She said: “My dear friends, fellow neighbours and residents of Transcona,
“I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to serve as your PC MLA candidate in this election. While the outcome may not have been what we had hoped for.
“I am deeply honored to have had your support and trust throughout this journey.
“Elections are a testament to the strength of our democratic process, where the voice of the people ultimately decides the pathway forward. I respect the choice you’ve made, and I want to congratulate the re-elected representative Nello Altomare.
“I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible team of volunteers and supporters who stood by my side throughout this campaign and rode the riding with me.
“Your dedication and hard work are truly commendable, and I am grateful for each and every one of you. I thank my dear husband, Matt, and our boys Wale, Kunle and Lekan for their incredible support throughout this campaign. I couldn’t have asked for a better team and family.
“As we move forward, please know that my commitment to Transcona remains unwavering. I’ll continue to advocate for our community’s wellbeing, even from outside of elected office. Together, we have built strong connections, & I am proud of the positive dialogue & ideas we’ve shared.
“I encourage you to remain engaged in the issues that matter most to Transcona. Your voices are powerful, and your concerns deserve to be heard. Together, we can work towards a brighter future for our community.
“Once again, thank you for your support, trust, and the opportunity to serve as your PC MLA candidate. I look forward to seeing Transcona thrive, and I remain dedicated to its success.”
