Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was happy to meet a Nigerian Invictus Games athlete in Germany while she was promoting the event recently.
During the event, Meghan hugged the Invictus Games athlete identified as Glory Essien and described her as “my Nigerian sister.”
Meghan took centre stage and delivered an emotional speech to 1,600 competitors, friends, and family in Dusseldorf as she greeted all those attending the games, organized by her husband Harry for wounded and disabled military veterans.
Among those she greeted before the event was competitor Glory Essien, who she hugged and told: ‘You’re my Nigerian sister!’

This came after husband Prince Harry disclosed at the opening ceremony that his wife was cheering on Nigeria as he discovered she is 43% Nigerian.
The revelation came during an episode on her Archetypes podcast in October 2022 after Meghan carried out a genealogy test.
She promised to “start to dig deeper into all this” during her discussion with comedians Issa Rae and Ziwe Fumudoh.
