The essence of the press briefing is to sensitise the general public about the inauguration and the whole essence of the forum and most especially solicit the support of well-meaning Nigerians as the forum seeks to empower women massively across the 36 states of the federation.
The President, Amb Mrs. Okedeyi Oluwafunmilayo Gafaru welcomes all members of the forum and appreciates the National, State and Local Executives for their interest and commitment so far in the forum. She reiterated the fact that though being the Founder and also the President is by the Grace of God, most importantly their belief in the reality of this forum is paramount and she enjoined everyone to embrace the forum as their own.
She emphasized the essence of the forum which is to empower women, particularly in Nigeria, and going by the motto of the association BETTER LIFE gives an indication of what we intend to do and no doubt it requires the general public to see into supporting the cause as much as they can as it geared towards Women Development in our Nation.
The President relayed the vision of the forum to be an inclusive group of well-identified women who meet to debate issues affecting women with a focus on gender equality to improve the lives of Nigeria women through Empowerment programs act aimed at creating a good future for the Nigerian women through Empowerment initiatives that portends poverty alleviation.
With a projection in which Nigerian women will be empowered and supported with sustainable humanitarian programs that will eradicate poverty in the land.
She highlighted the core values of our forum which is Equity And better life for all Nigerian women.
She said the forum will be on a Mission to establish the association in all 36 states including FCT Abuja through partnerships with relevant organizations and generating funds through our thrift savings by marketing using possible media and strategies paid ad hoc staff as marketers.
And going by the set objectives which are;
To establish an association, a society that will encourage members into self-actualisation and human development.
To encourage any other legal economic enterprise that may lend to enhance the economic well-being of the members
To build a financial network that will enhance and strengthen individual member’s Wealth
To establish agro-based business
To do all such other lawful things as may be considered to the above objects or any.
She craves the indulgence of every member to be committed to the aim and set objectives of the forum.
She also informed members on the proposed land acquisition for agricultural purposes which will facilitate revenue generation thereby supporting women in the forum and addressing some of our proposed projects.
The President also relayed the intention of the forum to embark on a mentoring program for younger women to enable them to learn and tread a path that will enable them to grow productively.
She highlighted the six pillars of the forum to be:
Education
Health
Security
Finance
Agriculture
The president believes they have all the valuable tools urging the government and other notable women to key into this vision and she emphasized that financial support and aid towards this cause will be highly appreciated.
Princess Adesola Adetomiwa, the National Coordinator of the forum appreciate the President for the initiative and the opportunity to serve in this role, She emphasized the aspect of gender equality and empowerment.
For women, she explained that going by gender equality doesn’t equate the Woman to being a Man but all they are agitating for is that women should no longer be sidelined when it comes to benefits that men equally enjoy across all spheres of life
She gave statistics about 75% of women facing challenges in their respective homes with regards to taking up responsibilities, and financial capabilities.
She believes that women should be empowered politically and that political leaders should create an ecosystem that accommodates women to function properly disposing of their qualities in the political space
Amb Ganiyat gave her perception of health matters resulting in terminal diseases. She said women are negligent of their health as a result of too much attention on building their home and not taking cognizance of their wellness which is detrimental to their overall health.
She enjoined all women to delve into Container farming which enable them to eat healthy and stay healthy thereby promoting a healthy lifestyle not only for them but for their families as well.
Mrs Agboola Ademola believes women are good managers and pillars of the home. They have evidently shown this in home-keeping and being supportive of their spouses.
She emphasized the importance of why women should stand their ground and believe in their inner being, the strong will to make a difference that their capabilities don’t end in the home and thrive to make a social impact in Nigeria and Africa at large.
The Welfare Coordinator encouraged women at the forum to think outside the box and try to be economically in their disposition.
She gave instances of toiletries being used in her home which have been made by her for a few years back and this has resulted in regulating their expenditure and focusing on things that are of utmost priority and importance.
The Welfare Coordinator said she would be willing and available to train women in the forum on this and how they can equally make money from it thereby starting a small-scale business.
The Press Briefing ended with an exclusive interview session with the President, a few Executives and Participants who were able to emphasize further on the importance of this forum and call on well-meaning Nigerians to subscribe, support and join the movement.
