Nweke Chukwuka, a 37-year-old homeless Nigerian migrant, has been nabbed in Italy for allegedly beating a 61-year-old woman, Iris Setti, to death.
The attack happened recently in the city of Rovereto, Trento when Iris Setti was strolling through a public park in Santa Maria and was attacked by the suspect, Nweke, a Nigerian living on the street.
According to reports, Nweke attacked the woman in the street in a clear rape attempt so brutal that Setti later died in hospital from her injuries.
Il Giornale reported that the Nweke may have either been attempting to rape the victim or trying to rob her and it remains unclear whether or not the woman knew the man.
What is clear is that she was brutally beaten, with witnesses revealing they saw the man throw the woman to the ground hitting her in the face and head with his fists and some sort of blunt object.
Nweke fled the area but was later caught by members of the Carabinieri, who stopped him on the Via Maioliche and had to use their tasers to subdue and arrest him.

Setti was hospitalized but owing to the severity of the injuries she had suffered, she died many hours later.
Nweke was later charged with voluntary homicide by the Rovereto Public Prosecutor’s office.
The suspect is a familiar face with law enforcement in Italy as he has been known for prior acts of violence which include an incident in August 2022 when he went on a rampage attacking parked cars and threatening people with a broken bottle.
The case has generated tensions between members of the ruling Italian coalition government headed by Prime Minister Meloni, with League leader and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini requesting to know why Nweke was in the country, calling on Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi to clarify the matter.
Salvini said: “This murderer had already been stopped in the past for violent actions, we will ask to go all the way, as Minister Piantedosi has already rightly announced, to understand why such a delinquent was still at large.”
Minister Piantedosi, who once worked under Salvini when Salvani was Interior Minister between 2017 and 2018, stated that “the barbaric murder of the woman in Rovereto is a very serious matter.”
He said: “I asked the Chief of Police to arrange every necessary investigation and a detailed reconstruction of the story, also to understand if there was something that did not work.” He added that further investigations
