Super Falcons forward, Desire Oparanozie, has apologized to Nigerians for losing her penalty during the Round of 16 match against England at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Melbourne.
Nigeria failed to progress to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 quarter-finals after losing 4 -2 to England on penalties.
Both countries did not score in 90 minutes, and the scoreline remained goalless after 30 minutes of extra time. They proceeded to penalty shoot-out and that decided the faith of Nigeria.

Oparanozie couldn’t convert her spot-kick and shared a picture of herself in tears on Twitter. She apologized with a tweet which read: “Sad day! Very disappointing to have lost through penalties, and even more disappointing not to have converted mine. And for this, I deeply apologise.”
