Nigeria men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, are ready to face hosts Angola in their second game at the ongoing AfroCan competition.
Nigeria beat Mali in their opening Group B game at the competition which is in its second edition.
D’Tigers emerged victorious with a 62 – 56 point win over the Malians and stayed top of the log in the three-team group.
The second edition of the FIBA AfroCan is only open to all players plying their trade with African clubs. It kicked off on July 8 and will end on July 16.
In 2017, FIBA’s new calendar changed the AfroBasket from a biennial to a quadrennial tournament. As a result, the AfroCan was created to fill up the void.
The first ever AfroCan took place in Mali in 2019, with DR Congo winning the inaugural title after seeing off Kenya in the final.
