Bayo Onanuga, the spokesman for President-elect Bola Tinubu, has urged Joe Biden of the United States to trash Chimamanda Adichie’s open letter requesting the American President to defer congratulating Bola Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria, as congratulating him could legalize an “illegitimate process” that birthed his victory.
While urging Biden, Onanuga said Adichie’s open letter to the U.S. President emanated from ethnic sympathy and fiction.
Onanuga tweeted: “Dear President Joe Biden, please just trash the open letter by Chimamanda on Nigeria’s election once it gets to your desk.
“She wrote fiction, inspired by the monumental loss of her tribesman Peter Obi.”
Nigerians have however criticized Onanuga’s statement. Check out some of the criticisms below:
