The leader of the Yoruba self-determination struggle, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Banji Akintoye, has stepped down from his position.
In a recent statement, the group’s General Secretary, Tunde Amusat, said Akintoye handed over leadership to his former Deputy, Professor Wale Adeniran.
Amusat cited old age and a weakened body system as Akintoye’s reasons for stepping down.
Amusat stated further that during the last worldwide congress of Ilana Omo Oodua which took place on December 17th, 2022, Akintoye’s resignation was accepted by the group and Adeniran was affirmed as the new leader.
