Popular eCommerce platform, Jumia, has revealed plans to shut down its Dubai office in a bid to cut costs and focus on Africa.
The company’s acting CEO, Francis Dufay, confirmed the development in a recent statement.
According to reports, that the development was part of Jumia’s plans to minimize losses and reposition the company.
The move came less than a month after founders Sacha Poignonnec and Jeremy Hodara departed.
The statement revealed that managers would be transferred to countries in their region, primarily to Morocco, Kenya, and Ivory Coast.
Dufay said: “As we are an Africa-focused company, we want our leaders to be based with customers, vendors, and employees.”
