Canada’s Food Price Report forecasts food prices will continue to increase in the new year and that it could be by as much as seven percent.
By implication, groceries will cost nearly 16-thousand-300-dollars for the average family of four next year.
That’s approximately 1,100 dollars higher than this year.
Dalhousie University Professor and lead author, Sylvain Charlebois, reveals food inflation will remain extremely high between January and June 2023 before it begins to ease.
Vegetables are expected to see the biggest price hike within the grocery store.
As the United States has been struggling with dry conditions and bacterial contaminations, a weaker Canadian dollar could make the importation of goods more expensive.
