A resident of Toronto has been charged with sexual assault by the Muskoka Crime Unit of OPP.
A report that was filed in September alleged that sexual assaults had occurred at a private residence in Bracebridge in July.
An investigation was conducted which resulted in charging 62-year-old Michael Thompson of Toronto with two counts of sexual assault.

Thompson’s lawyer, Calvin Barry, said the alleged incident happened in Muskoka in July 2022 and Thompson will fight the case “vigorously.” He added that two women made the allegations.
Though Thompson has resigned from the chairmanship of the council’s economic and community development committee, he remains a City Councillor.
Thompson will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 1, 2022.
Police revealed no additional details would be provided to safeguard the identity of the victims.
