Kanye West, popularly known as Ye, has revealed he’s breaking up with the Gap.
While talking to The Associated Press, Kanye West’s attorney said a letter has been sent to the clothing chain to terminate the contract between Gap and West’s company, Yeezy.
The misunderstanding came just over a year after Yeezy’s first item— a blue puffer jacket — appeared in Gap stores. The deal was announced in June 2020.
In the recent letter that West’s counsel shared with The AP, it was stated that Gap did not meet obligations in the pact which include distributing merchandise to Gap store locations and establishing dedicated YZY Gap stores.
Nicholas Gravante, West’s attorney with Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft said: “Gap left Ye no choice but to terminate their collaboration agreement because of Gap’s substantial noncompliance.
“Ye had diligently tried to work through these issues with Gap both directly and through counsel. He has gotten nowhere.”

Gravante said the failure of Gap to honour the terms of the contract has been costly. He said West plans to start opening Yeezy retail stores.
West has criticized Gap and Adidas AG where he has an equivalent deal but Adidas refused to comment. Also, Gap didn’t instantly respond to requests for comment.
