Ika Community Mourns, By Stanley Ugagbe

It is often said that death is inevitable but nobody knows when, where and how it will happen. While it is the desire of most people to die at a good old age, the ferocious powers of death can actually hit anyone at any time.

For Nigerians in Canada, the past few weeks have been traumatizing as series of deaths have been recorded in Nigerian communities. While Nigerians in the nation are yet to recover from the recent multiple losses of lives, death has come knocking again.

The Ika Community has been thrown into mourning as two Nigerians (male and female) have returned to their maker.

Mr Fidelis Unnah is dead. He was born in 1958.

The family confirmed the development in a short statement. “With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, uncle and friend. We remember him to be a kind, brilliant man who has touched and impacted the lives of many. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace forever and always. Amen.”

Mr Fidelis Unnah

He was buried on Saturday, August 20, 2022.

In the same vein, Favour Odigie, who was born on January 17, 1984 in Lagos, died a few minutes after child birth at Humber Memorial Hospital on July 28, 2022.

She is survived by her husband, children, mother, and siblings. Funeral service will be held for her on Saturday August 27, 2022 at St. Roch’s Parish, 2889 Islington Ave, North York ON M9L

Favour Odigie

A GoFundMe account has been created to help raise funds for her burial. You can contribute a token for her burial here

The Editorial Board of the Nigerian Canadian Newspaper sympathizes with the families of the deceased. May God comfort them.
