Charly Boy, a Nigerian singer and songwriter, has subtly hinted that his 45-year marriage to Diane Oputa is about to break down.
The 72-year-old singer and political activist asked Nigerians if they would be surprised if he informed them he was divorcing his wife and going back to the streets in a tweet that was posted on Twitter.
“If I tell una say, after over 45yrs of marriage to my wife dat am going back to bachelorhood,what would you say?I don talk say dis marriage of a tin just no easy. The longer u stay, the harder it gets. What should I do? I tire oooo.
”
He claims that he has always believed that the institution of marriage is difficult and that it becomes more difficult the longer one is married.
He wrote earlier this year saying marriages that appear to be going well, according to the self-described “area fada” who has been married to his wife Diane Oputa for over 40 years, are not faultless.
In the caption of his wedding images, Charly Boy said that he is losing energy and asked for suggestions on how to make his marriage last another ten years.
