Nigerian international, Asisat Oshoala has been named the best female footballer in Africa for a record fifth time.
The 27-year-old Oshoala, who plays club football for Barcelona, beat Grace Chanda (Zambia/BIIK Kazygurt) and Ajara Nchout Njoya (Cameroon/Inter Milan) to scoop the award.
In view of the feat, she has now overtaken her compatriot Perpetual Nkwocha as the player with the most African Women’s Player of the Year Award.

On her part, Oshoala previously won the award in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2019.
In a similar development, Senegal and Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane was named the best male footballer in Africa by the Confederation of Africa Football at the recent award event. For Mane, it was his second time of clinching the award.
The Senegal forward first won the honour in 2019 while he was at Liverpool.
