Female Court Inspector Shot By Kidnappers In Imo Dies, by Stanley Ugagbe

The horror movie being played by insurgents in Nigeria has unveiled another heartbreaking episode as a court inspector in Imo State, Odera Onumajulu, who sustained gunshot injuries from her kidnappers died.

Odera’s death was confirmed to newsmen by the Nigeria Bar Association.

It could be recalled that the lawyer was kidnapped and shot on May 22 in Owerri.

Reports have it that until her death, Odera was a Customary Court Inspector. Despite a month-long battle by medical personnel to save her life, she has eventually died.

Local reports have it that the gunmen who kidnapped her in front of her house shot her before letting her go.

Reacting to the ugly development, the Secretary of NBA, Owerri branch, Chinedu Agu, said that the branch was saddened by the death of the female lawyer.

Chinedu said “the deceased lawyer died on Wednesday after she suffered a gunshot injury from dare-devil kidnappers who abducted her on May 22 in front of her house.

“Before the ugly incident, Onumajulu was a Customary Court Inspector attached to the Customary Court of Appeal (CCA) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2016.

“It is very sad how another colleague has become a victim of the ravaging insecurity in Imo.

“We extend our condolences to both her family and extended members of the family”.
