The Mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, has announced that Montreal’s budget for tackling homelessness has increased from $3-million to $6-million this year.
The city of Montreal announced 21 projects that are dedicated to homelessness. The projects which will be implemented in 11 boroughs by 20 different organizations.

While making the announcement, Plante stated that the new projects would help “ensure better cohabitation with homelessness resources, residents and businesses.”
She tweeted: “Homelessness has been exacerbated by the pandemic. We don’t want to leave anyone behind, but we are aware that each time a resource opens in a neighbourhood, it creates impacts of social cohabitation.”
