Raphael Otobo, a fraud suspect, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Otodo was arraigned before Justice C. A. Obiozor of the Federal High Court in Benin, Edo State capital.
He is accused of swindling Kenneth Asuma Osaghe of N1million under the pretence that he would help him secure a Canadian visa.
The offence was contrary to section 1(1)(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act,2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

Otobo has however pleaded “not guilty” to the three-count charge levelled against him.
The prosecution counsel, I. K. Agwai asked the court for a trial date and to also detain d the defendant at a Correctional Facility.
The defence counsel, Emmanuel Izegaegbe prayed the court to grant Otobo bail and stated that the alleged offences were bailable.
Justice Obiozor granted Otobo bail in the sum of N1million and one surety in like sum.
The surety must be residing in Benin and possess landed property within the jurisdiction of the court.

Also, the judge ordered the defendant and the surety to submit two passport photographs and adjourned the case till June 14.
