Mirabelle Chiderah Harris-Eze, a second-year Law student at the University of Calgary and a Nigerian-Canadian writer, made the 2022 CBC Short Story Prize longlist for her book titled ‘Brake (Little Girl, Little Mother).’

While reacting to this great development, Mirabelle made it known that she is living the dream and that the book was inspired by her family, her culture and her life expectations.
She tweeted: “Sometimes dreams come true ✨ “Brake” was inspired by my family, my culture, my city. Expectations. Failure. Being the eldest Igbo daughter. Really honoured to be able to sit among such amazing writers across Canada.”

This is the second time the erudite writer is making good the people of Calgary proud as she recently won the Windsor Review of Legal and Social Issues (WRLSI) Tory Writing Award for her paper “Where’s Walda? How the Alberta legislature can more adequately protect ‘invisible’ NCDII victims through statutory reform.”
