Taku was born with Cerebral Palsy. He is 19 years old and he lives in Randburg, South Africa. He has never been to school.
He is being raised by a single mother and has a sibling who is in school and whose father is late. Taku needs adult diapers on a daily basis and needs assistance in feeding, bathing and mobility.
He is always on his back and every effort to make him sit for a while makes him fall while and continuous sleeping triggers bedsores. His lower body is not proportional to his upper body and he is always constipated and needs to be adjusted.
Her mother has developed back pains as she manually lifts him on a daily basis. At times, she has to lift him and take him outside to an open space for a proper bath as maneuvering him in the bathroom means trying so hard to make him fit in the shower and there is risk of slipping whilst at it.
He needs physiotherapy and there is lack of fund to make this happen. If funds are raised, he will be able to frequently go for therapy, seek medical attention and see a specialist as he is always constipated and having bowel problems.
He can also be enrolled in a special needs school to keep him active and reduce the risk of bed sores and stiffness. He has outgrown the wheelchair he had before.
