The World football governing body, FIFA has snubbed Nigerian Referees after choosing 8 officials from other African countries to officiate during this year’s World cup in Qatar.

8 African referees were shortlisted by FIFA from 36 referees, 63 assistant referees and 36 VAR officials that will be selected for the tournament.
FIFA is expected to announce the final list of referees one month before the World Cup commences.
Most of the selected referees officiated at the recent Africa Cup of Nations which took place in Cameroon.
They are expected to undergo training ahead of the tournament, which starts in seven months.

The selected African referees are:
Victor Gomez (South Africa)
Janny Sikazwe (Zambia)
Jean Jacques Ndala (DR Congo)
Mustapha Ghorbal (Algeria)
Redouane Jiyed (Morocco)
Tesssema Balmak (Ethiopia)
Maguette N’diaye (Senegal)
