$4 movies coming to Ontario cinemas

Ontario residents can still watch some of the summer’s biggest blockbusters and this weekend, cinephiles can watch movies at a reduced price of $4.

For those that haven’t watched the Barbie movie or Oppenheimer, this weekend might be a good time.

This Sunday, August 27, is the second annual National Cinema Day, as such, the Movie Theatre Association of Canada and the Cinema Foundation will celebrate the day with discounted admissions at participating theatres.

Movies were $3 in 2022 but the price has gone up to, a still very discounted, $4 (plus applicable taxes) this year.

Nuria Bronfman, Executive Director, Movie Theatre Association of Canada, said: “Following a record-breaking summer for movie-going, National Cinema Day is the perfect way to close out the season.

“Theatres nationwide are excited to join forces to welcome Canadians into our theatres to experience a day of fun at the movies with their families and friends,”

The one-day event will be at over 3,000 participating locations across North America.

Participating theatres in Canada are Imagine Cinemas, Cineplex, Cinémas Ciné Entreprise, Landmark Cinemas, Magic Lantern Theatres, and many local independent theatres across the provinces.

Check out the full list of participating theatres in Canada by visiting www.nationalcinemaday.ca
