Two adults and two children died in a recent house fire which occurred on Hamilton Mountain.
According to reports, fire crews got to a townhouse complex located in the area of Upper Gage and Rymal at around 11:10 p.m. to meet a fire outbreak with heavy smoke at 14, Derby St.
Fire Chief David Cunliffe said: “The first arriving crew reported a center unit in a row of townhouses fully involved with heavy smoke and fire visible from both the front and rear of the unit.”

The first crew that arrived were told that people were trapped on the second floor of the building involved.
Firefighters carried out a thorough search and rescue operation despite the heavy smoke and high heat and were able to detect four individuals, two adults and two children.
The four individuals were removed from the house and attended to by firefighters and paramedics.
They were later transported to the hospital where they were all pronounced dead.
Also, two others were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Hamilton Fire says the fire was controlled, and no other injuries have been reported.
As a precaution, crews remained at the scene overnight on fire-watch to monitor the home.
The Ontario Fire Marshall has been informed but officials have not disclosed the cause of the fire.
