Ghanaian Police has arrested two persons in respect of the demolition a building on the premises of Nigerian High Commission in Accra, Ghana.
A statement issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghanaian Police earlier today and signed by the Department’s Head of Public Affairs, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Juliana Obeng revealed that two suspects have been arrested.
The statement issued by the CID read: “The Criminal Investigations Department in the course of investigation on Monday 22nd June 2020, arrested two persons involved in the demolition of a building on the premises of the Nigerian High Commission in Accra.
“The suspects involved in the act, have been charged with the offences of Conspiracy to Commit Crime to wit; Unlawful Entry and Causing Unlawful Damage contrary to sections 23(1), 152 and 172(1b) respectively of the Criminal and other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and will be arraigned before court.”
The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo called President Buhari yesterday and apologised for the demolition. During the call, he assured President Muhammadu Buhari that the police will conduct an investigation.
