Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that the ministry would come up with a comprehensive review of migration and visa policies with the support of major stakeholders in the country targeted at easing all the processes for Nigerians both home and abroad in line with global standard.
The Minister stated this recently in Abuja while receiving the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who led the commission’s management team on a courtesy visit.
This was revealed in a statement by NIDCOM spokesman, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.
According to the statement, Tunji-Ojo said the ministry is highly concerned about lopsidedness in some migration, and visa policies which can make Nigeria a dumping ground.

The statement added that Minister said that the review will take cognisance of the principle of reciprocity in line with international standards.
Tunji-Ojo applauded the commission’s efforts through the proactive nature of the Chairman and said NIDCOM has more to offer in the area of welfare for Nigerians in the Diaspora and establishing a positive image for the country abroad.
The Minister shared his concerns about the challenges with passport processing, capturing and collection, assuring that everything possible will be done to make the process more efficient.
Dabiri-Erewa earlier commended the dynamism brought in by the Minister of Interior in the improvement on the issuance of passports to Nigerians both at home and abroad.
She campaigned for more effective passport capturing and collection process for Nigerians living abroad and rounded off her speech by saying there is urgent need for collaboration and creation of a structural platform to address complex diaspora issues that require coordinated efforts from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
