The Supreme Court of Nigeria will rule over the appeals to remove President Bola Tinubu from office tomorrow.
As recorded in the court docket formally marked by Registrar Zainab Garba, the Supreme Court issued a directive regarding the judgment disclosing its schedule for October 26.
The court document, with the suit number SUTNO.Sc/CV/ 935/ 2023 indicated at the top right-hand corner, stated: “Take notice that judgment will be delivered in the above-mentioned matter on TURSDAY 26th day of October 2023 before the Supreme Court of Nigeria sitting at Law Court District Area, Abuja.”
The major issue before the court the determination of whether the presidential election petitions tribunal conducted by the Court of Appeal erred in law in dismissing the appeals filed by both Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) on the grounds of lacking merit.
The apex court is tasked with deciding whether to consider and admit the evidence presented by Atiku Abubakar, revealing allegations of certificate forgery by President Tinubu.
The apex court will deliberate on the sufficiency of every argument, fact, and evidence presented and assessing whether they are substantial enough to overturn the results of the February 25 presidential election or disqualify the proclaimed victor, Bola Tinubu, and his political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), based on allegations of electoral law violations.
