This season’s UEFA Champions League final has been moved from Russia to France amid the lingering war between Russia and Ukraine.
The final match was initially scheduled to take place at the Gazprom Arena in St Petersburg on May 28, but has now been moved to Paris in France.

After a recent meeting, the European football governing body confirmed the match would be played at the Stade de France in Paris.
While confirming the venue shift, UEFA expressed “thanks and appreciation” to the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, for “his support and commitment to have European club football’s most prestigious game moved to France at a time of unparalleled crisis”.

UEFA said: “Together with the French government, UEFA will fully support multi-stakeholder efforts to ensure the provision of rescue for football players and their families in Ukraine who face dire human suffering, destruction and displacement.”
UEFA also ordered football clubs in Russia and Ukraine as well as the national teams of both countries to play their home matches away from the region.
