The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has prohibited the rearing and consumption of cows bred by northerners in the South-East part of Nigeria.
IPOB’s Director of State, Chika Edoziem disclosed this in a statement. According to the statement, the ban would take effect on April 8, 2022.
However, he said only the Efi Igbo (local cows) would be permitted for consumption and ceremonies in the area.
The statement read: “8th April 2022 is the date. From that date, no more Fulani cow shall be allowed into Biafraland for any reason, not for burials, title taking and weddings etc.
“Only Efi Igbo (local cow) shall be consumed and used for all ceremonies in Biafraland.”
IPOB has been trying to enforce a sit-at-home order in the South-East in an effort to force the Federal Government to free its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is facing trial for alleged treason at the Abuja High Court.
Meanwhile, whether the latest statement issued by the IPOB Director of State is authentic or not has not been confirmed.
This is due to the fact that most of the statements coming from the group were issued by Emma Powerful, its Secretary of Media and Publicity.
