Finnish police has released Simon Ekpa, a Biafra separatist leader, hours after he was arrested and questioned.
Ekpa was nabbed recently from his apartment in Lahti region of Finland by Police officials from the Finnish Central Criminal Police.
It should be recalled that Ekpa threatened that any individual in the Southeast that participates in the forthcoming election would be dealt with ruthlessly.

The separatist leader is alleged to have masterminded several killings that happened in the Southeast.
Ekpa, a self-acclaimed mentee of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), made the headlines in July 2021 after he was announced as Radio Biafra’s lead broadcaster.
He was appointed to replace Kanu after the re-arrest of the IPOB leader by the Federal Government. After a few weeks, IPOB announced Ekpa’s disengagement, citing his reluctance to sign the rules of engagement of Radio Biafra.
Meanwhile, ahead of the election, IPOB has revealed it has not called for any sit-at-home during the time of the election. The revelation was made in a statement by IPOB’s Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.
The statement read: “IPOB has not called for any sit-at-home during the duration of the election and therefore we distance ourselves from any purported sit-at-home in Biafra land during the election.”
“Those calling for “No Election” and sit-at-home during the election period are simply Fulani agents whose sole motive is to discredit our self-determination movement by attempting to paint it as an anti-democratic force.

“Their intention is to create the groundwork for the international community to view IPOB as being against democratic process and provide them with an excuse to clamp down on our activities and on IPOB leadership.”
