Boko Haram attack: NNPC suspends oil exploration in Chad region.

The Nigerian National petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has halted its crude oil exploration within the lake region in parts of Borno State.
After a awfully serious attack on the work force and a few military security personnel by the Boko Haram group, the NNPC has suspended all activities for currently in this region.
The minister for petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, said the exercise had to be placed on hold till the corporation gets enough clearance to resume its oil search within the region from the military.
Kachikwu, who sympathised with the families of victims killed by the insurgents, however, stated that the corporation got the neccesary clearance from security agencies before embarking on the trip last Tuesday. He regretted that the team was ambushed by terrorists, however insisted that no work will happen at the site anytime soon.
The business oil found in neighbouring Chad Republic had inspired the NNPC, on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari, to intensify and focus its exploratory work in the inland basins on the Chad Basin and Benue Trough areas.
In Nov 2016, it resumed exploration activities in Gubio; Magumeri; Monguno; Kukawa; Abadam; Guzamala; and Mobar, after getting security recommendation from the military.
