A statement issued by the spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Aviation, Jude Odaudu, said the decision to reinstate most of the dismissed pilots was taken during an intervention meeting that the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika called between the management of the airline and the leadership of the National Association of Airline Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE).
The statement has it that the Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema, verbally accepted the Minister’s plea to recall the maximum number of pilots that the airline can cater for while avoiding insolvency.
Durin his presentation, the Chairman of NAAPE, Galadima Abednego, said that some wrong steps could have been taken in the course of the tussle between the airline and the union and pleaded with the Minister to intervene in order to resolve the dispute.
He disclosed that as a union, it was a sad thing to see a large number of their members lose their job and further appealed to employers to see the union members as partners and not enemies.
The Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema thanked Senator Hadi Sirika for offering the needed leadership to the industry and promised to cooperate fully in ensuring the growth of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
