In what has triggered eupeptic reactions, Supermodel Naomi Campbell has disclosed that she is now a mother of a baby girl.
NCNC gathered that the 50-year-old announced the news on Instagram as she shared a picture of her hand holding the baby’s feet.
She wrote “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother, so honoured to have this gentle soul in my life”.
No further details about the new baby have been made available, but during a 2017 interview with the Evening Standard, Ms Campbell spoke about wanting to become a mother.
She was quoted as saying: “I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.”
It is important not note that the catwalk-star was discovered as a schoolgirl and went on to become the first black British model to appear on the cover of British Vogue.
She is also known for her charity work, and in 2005 founded Fashion For Relief, a charity merging fashion and philanthropy.
Reacting to the news of the baby’s birth, Ms Campbell’s mother, Valerie Morris Campbell, posted on Instagram: “I’m beyond thrilled as I’ve waited a long time to be a grandmother.”
Fellow fashion industry veterans and friends have continued to pour their congratulatory messages in the comments after learning of the model’s big baby news.
“Oh my God!!!!! Today is the day?? How absolutely incredible,” commented designer Marc Jacobs. “How lucky she is and how lucky you are! What a wonderful Mother you will be. Blessings all around.”
Also, actress Jodie Turner-Smith sent well wishes, writing, “Many many many congratulations to you and to your family—the village that will now rally around you and support you in cultivating that little angel!!!! what an incredible blessing!!!”
