Auto sales in Canada carried on their upward trend in July by mounting improved recovery from the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. 165,020 autos were bought in July, representing a 6.2 percent increase over number of sales in June.
The consultancy revealed in its monthly report that the number of autos sold in July is 4.9 percent below the number of autos sold last year July but however marks the seventh best July in the automotive history of Canada.
DesRosiers revealed that after a “brutal” fall in April, sales increased by 147 percent in May and 37.3 percent in June and continued to rise in July.
While auto sales put up a “strong” showing, the consultants remarked it’s still not clear how much of the increment is driven by buyers who have been adjusting since spring, a time when dealers were in a holding trend owing to COVID-19 restrictions.
