A World Health Organisation (WHO) official has tested positive for Coronavirus disease in Bauchi State.
This was confirmed by Bauchi State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro, through a statement issued by Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency’s Information Officer, Ibrahim Sani.
The commissioner said: “Following the confirmation of a staff of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Bauchi Office, who tested positive for COVID-19, the UNICEF/WHO offices have been decontaminated and are now officially closed down for two weeks.
“The exercise was conducted on April 19 in the presence of the Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, as part of prevention measures and to de-escalate the spread of the virus in the state.”
The Commissioner disclosed that the information available revealed that the WHO official travelled to Kano recently.
The Commissioner said the official’s contacts in Kano and Bauchi have been discovered, isolated and are placed under strict surveillance.
