As extreme cold hits Quebec recently, temperatures in Montreal dropped to -25 degrees Celsius causing a phenomenon known as “sea smoke.”
Warnings of extreme weather are in effect across much of eastern Canada and Quebec, with the harshest conditions expected to take place between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Recently, the wind in Montreal made the temperature feel like it is minus 41 C.
Very cold winds passing over the unfrozen water made Arctic sea smoke rise over portions of the St. Lawrence River.
The temperature was expected to drop as low as minus 50 degrees Celsius in northern Quebec due to the strong, cold gusts.
