Football legend, Pele, who is regarded as the greatest football player by a lot of people, has died. He died in his home country at the age of 82.
During his lifetime, the sensational footballer scored a world record 1,281 goals in 1,363 appearances during a 21-year career, which included 77 goals in 92 matches for his country.

He remains the only footballer to have won the World Cup three times, having lifted the trophy for Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, was named FIFA Player of the Century in 2000.
He had been battling kidney and prostate problems in recent years.
In September 2021, he had surgery to remove a tumour from his colon in a Sao Paulo hospital, after the tumour was discovered in routine tests.
After then, he was readmitted to the hospital and during that time, Kely Nascimento, his daughter, revealed he would spend Christmas on sick bed.
Recently, Kely posted a picture of Pele’s family members’ hands on his body in the hospital and wrote: “Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace.”
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
