Nigeria women’s U-20 football team, the Falconets, have crashed out of the ongoing 2022 World Cup after they lost to the Netherlands in their recent quarterfinal game.
The Falconets won all three group matches against France, South Korea, and Canada to qualify for the knockout stages and lost 2-0 to their Dutch counterparts.

Netherlands scored the first goal in the 12th minute through Zera Hilswit who shot into the top corner after Falconets skipper Blessing Demehin’s poor clearance.
The Netherlands will make their first-ever semifinal appearance since the competition started by facing Spain in the last four.
Falconets Head Coach, Chris Musa Danjuma praised his players despite losing the quarterfinal match.
He described the girls as “excellent, phenomenal players” and said Nigeria is highly blessed to have such a group of hungry footballers.

He said: ”They’re phenomenal. Excellently wonderful players. They have this hunger to show themselves. I’m telling you that Nigeria is blessed to have this crop of players graduating in future. I think the future of the senior team is secure.”
