Kevin Tshiyoyi, a suspect in Montreal, has been apprehended in connection with a grandparent scam in Halton.
Hatlon Regional Police Service officers were recently informed of a scam which took place at a residence in Georgetown.
The suspect was alleged to have attended the residence in a bid to collect $10,000 from the victim to bail out her grandson. Meanwhile, this was a fraudulent act as her grandson was not in prison.

Police invaded the residence while the suspect was still there and arrested him.
After he was arrested, police were able to discover a hotel room in Oakville where he was staying.
The police later obtained a search warrant to search the room and discovered evidence of other fraud offences in Halton and neighbouring areas.
According to the Police, over $80,000 was stolen from different victims.
The charges against Tshiyoyi were upgraded and he now faces 11 counts of fraud over $5,000 and unauthorized possession of a credit card.
