Mr. Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of House of Representatives expressed in an interview that the “Not-Too-Young-To-Run’’ Bill wasn’t removed from the bill report to be considered soon by the House.
He made the clarification at the backdrop of outcry that the Bill had been removed from the Constitution amendment Report, that was set at comprehensive on Thursday.
Mr Yussuff Lasun, who is chairman of the House of Representatives ad hoc Committee and also the Deputy Speaker has been on the Review of the Constitution, had said that there was an allerged rumour that the bill had been removed from the report.
He said that it had been being alleged that the bill was removed at the retreat of the National Assembly Joint Committee on Review of the Constitution, control in Lagos, last week, however described it to be false.
Dogara also re-affirmed his support for youth inclusion in politics, that the house would live up to its promise to do all within its powers to pass the bill into law.
“The youth ought to be informed that we created a promise and we can keep to our promise, by God’s grace,” he added.
He more explained that, though the bill was held, the title was modified, which might be the reason why it was thought to have been removed. But Mr. Dogara assured that he will support the bill.
