The Federal Government has purchased Profiling Robots to scrutinise passengers at airports’ Departure Halls.
This development was disclosed by the Federal Government through NTA News Twitter handle as the test run was carried out at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
While disclosing the development, NTA tweeted: “It can be programmed to identify unwanted items and check temperature. It is interactive and can lead or direct passengers.”
The robots will be used for passenger facilitation processes which include check-ins, profiling, temperature checks and detection of security threats like dangerous goods and arms.
While confirming the development, a source in the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said the test run of the robots has been done at the Lagos Airport.
According to the source, if it works satisfactorily, it will be adopted across other international airports in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika and the Presidential Task Force members at Murtala Muhammed International Airport shared the protocols and guidelines for flight resumption in the country.
Also, Sirika was part of the simulation flight that was carried out ahead of the expected reopening of the country’s airspace to commercial operations.
