Jeweler sues Nicki Minaj for damaging borrowed jewellery

Famous rapper, Nicki Minaj, has been taken to court for allegedly refusing to pay for a borrowed custom jewellery she allegedly damaged.

Minaj is being sued by a West Hollywood jeweller who revealed they loaned out some jewellery to the rapper. The jeweller claims some of those pieces came back damaged.

According to TMZ, it was alleged that Nicki’s stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, signed a contract with Roseark jewellery store, with Roseark agreeing to borrow Nicki jewellery for a public appearance.

The store claims the contract required Brett to return the bling within a week and pay for any damages the jewellery might suffer under his watch.

However, Brett failed to return 66 pieces of jewellery by the agreed-upon deadline, and, when Brett finally returned the jewellery, there was noticeable damage to a set of earrings and a leaf ring.

Meanwhile, sources close to Nicki insisted that everything was returned on time as promised and the store complained about a missing stone after the items were in the jeweller’s possession for some time.

The jewellery store said it forwarded invoices to Brett for the damage, which totals $26,239.50 plus interest. Roseark claim they haven’t been paid, despite their repeated attempts to collect.

Roseark is suing Nicki and her stylist for the money though it appears Nikki did not have any direct dealings with the jeweller.

While reacting to the lawsuit, Nicki’s attorney, Jordan Siev, said: “We have not been presented with any evidence that any of the jewellery at issue was damaged by Nicki. This lawsuit appears to be nothing more than an ordinary insurance claim by the jeweller designed to generate publicity for itself and extract a payment to which it is not entitled. We will defend the lawsuit vigorously.”
