Kenneth Kalu, Canada-Based Nigerian Professor, Appointed Abia SSG

In a very swift move, the newly sworn-in Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has started assembling a capable team to deliver his pledge of implementing reforms across various sectors and fostering inclusivity in the state. Among his first set of appointees was Professor Kenneth Kalu, an academic from the Toronto Metropolitan University, who assumes the position of Secretary to the Government of Abia State.

Professor Kalu’s great academic background and experience in Canada’s public and private sectors make him a great asset to the Otti administration. With expertise in global management studies, Professor Kalu brings a unique and insightful perspective to the table. He has worked as an Associate Professor in Global Management Studies at the Ted Rogers School of Management, with his career dedicated to researching and analyzing economic and political institutions in developing countries.

His focus on emerging markets in Africa and the relationship between economic and political institutions are expected to contribute immensely to Abia State’s growth and development under Governor Otti’s leadership.

As Otti’s administration seeks to attract investments and foster entrepreneurship in Abia, residents believe Kalu’s deep understanding of how economic and political institutions shape business environments would be key to achieving those goals.

Residents of Abia State have also expressed confidence that Professor Kalu will contribute his quota to Otti’s administration as it navigates the complexities of policy-making and implementation of initiatives.

Professor Kalu is a widely respected commentator on Africa’s economy and institutions, foreign aid, foreign direct investment, and China’s economic partnerships with Africa.

His educational accomplishments, which include B.Sc. degree in Accounting, M.Sc. in Finance, M.A. in Economics, and Ph.D. in Public Policy, highlight his strong commitment to excellence and equip him with a multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
