Elon Musk cancels Twitter deal

The CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, has made a U-turn from his earlier decision to remove verification badges of Twitter users that do not subscribe to Twitter Blue. Twitter has now returned the blue tick for politicians, celebrities, and influential personalities that have huge followership on the platform.

In Nigeria, top politicians like Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi now have their blue tick restored. Billionaires like Tony Elumelu and Aliko Dangote have also had their badges restored.

Also, celebrities like Kate Henshaw, Davido, Wizkid, and Tiwa Savage have also become verified again after being stripped recently.

Though Twitter has not made any comment as to why some blue ticks were restored even when the account owners had not subscribed, reports have it that Twitter was restoring the check mark for individuals with over 1 million followers.
