A statement has been issued by Amnesty International urging the Nigerian government to uphold human rights in the face of growing violence as the 2023 general election loom.
The organization has urged political parties, politicians, security forces, and interest groups to refrain from engaging in violence or incitement that could infringe people’s human rights.
The statement cites many recent incidents of violence, including attacks on campaign convoys, kidnappings, and murders of politicians and party officials.
Also, Amnesty International has called on the authorities to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of such acts and ensure that journalists and election observers can carry out their work safely.

The organization promised to monitor the situation and document any human rights violations.
