Twitter has suspended Kathy Griffin for impersonating Elon Musk, the platform’s new owner.
The 62-year-old American comedian and actress changed her profile name to Musk to imitate the Twitter owner and later displayed her account’s new look by encouraging users to #VoteBlue and check out Twitter competitor, Mastodon.
She tweeted: “After much-spirited discussion with the females in my life, I’ve decided that voting blue for their choice is only right. (They’re also sexy females, btw.) #VoteBlueToProtectWomen.”
The suspension came after Musk hinted he was taking his “Chief Tweet” role seriously as he tackled fake accounts weeks after he officially acquired Twitter for $44 billion.

He tweeted: “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended.
“Previously, we issued a warning before the suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning. This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue.”
